Victoria Jones is a Senior Associate in Mallesons’s Dispute Resolution Team with extensive experience in litigation and international arbitration. An avid tennis player, she often spends her weekends battling it out on the courts, similar to her time as a litigator in the Singapore courts. The 7th edition of the Arbitration Rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC Rules 2025) are a comprehensive rewrite and restructure of the previous 6th edition of the SIAC Rules dated 1 April 2016 (SIAC Rules 2016) making the rules more logical and coherent.
This article addresses the proposed draft new rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. The rules include developments such as proposals to streamline the procedure for small disputes and increase powers of the Registrar and President.
Climate change litigation is on the rise around the world. Whilst Singapore has not seen a wave of climate change litigation, regulators in Singapore are increasing scrutiny of the compliance of corporations with environmental law and standards and there is likely to be an increase in commercial disputes related to climate change projects and initiatives.
